About the Image(s)
Every year at this time I grow at least one Amaryllis. This is one of several shots from a shoot last year that I never went back and edited. It is a stack of 25 photos. I used a tripod and a Lume Cube panel for the lighting. Minimal editing in LrC and stacked in Helicon Focus.
Happy Holidays!

Lovely! Great perspective. It has impact. Strong vibrant colors pop. You captured sharp details. My suggestions would be to remove the partial green stem on the right bottom, and also remove the partial dark petal on the upper right corner. Additionally, I would darken the background to black. Nice job.   Posted: 12/08/2025 01:54:29
Thanks Barbara, I agree with your suggestions. Those elements are distracting.   Posted: 12/09/2025 12:52:47
You captured a beautiful image of this amaryllis with all the important parts of the flower in sharp focus. The anthers seem to be calling my attention even more than the stunning red petals. So, I took the liberty to create a slightly different image from your composition to focus more on the anthers. I cropped your image to a square format while also toning down the highlights on the anthers, brightening the shadowy center, and adding a vignette.   Posted: 12/08/2025 20:45:17
Thanks David. I like the edits on the anthers and lightening the center a lot. I will have to try different crops - not sure about the square, but it does look good.   Posted: 12/09/2025 12:55:42
You captured great detail in the anthers and detail in the texture of the flower petals with your stack. I agree with the edits that David made to this image. His edit, to my eye, improves the composition.   Posted: 12/09/2025 17:25:34
Thanks Denise. I also like the edges of the flower and think they add to the composition. A good crop which includes David's edits and yours.   Posted: 12/12/2025 22:00:45
