About the Image(s)
For this month's image, I've chosen one that I believe is called Scabiosa. I photographed it recently in the morning, and it still had some dew drops on it. In post-processing, I cropped the image and slightly enhanced the contrast and colours.

You captured a lovely image of a scabiosa flower with the purple petals sharply contrasting the simple, blurred background. I like that you kept the blurry purple area behind the main subject rather than making the background completely black. Sometimes a completely black background works, but in this case the touch of purple complements the subject nicely. Excellent work!   Posted: 07/07/2025 13:42:08
Hi David,
Thank you for your comment, I'm glad you liked the image! What caught my attention was how the small petals held the tiny dew drops in the early morning light. I tried to isolate that detail from the background, where there were other flowers, and that's where the soft purple tones in the background came from.

Hi Maria,
Beautiful! The petals of the purple scabiosa have nice curves and twists. Good lighting with sharp details in the center. The dew drops add impact. The pleasing background complements the flower. I wonder if a tighter crop would give more attention to the lovely scabiosa. I like it.   Posted: 07/10/2025 18:47:07

Hi Barbara,
Thank you for your comment and suggestion. I agree with you, a closer crop of the flower could have enhanced those details even more. I'm always a bit hesitant with cropping because I worry about losing image quality, so I tend not to do it too often.

You have plenty of room to crop with a 45 megapixel sensor!   Posted: 07/13/2025 20:06:55
Like your composition with a wonderful background. Like the blurry purple in the background. Great lighting. I agree you could crop some off the sides, bottom, but not the top.   Posted: 07/17/2025 00:55:26
Maria, great image. I like the lighting which highlights the center of the flower, and the bokeh. I agree it could have been cropped a bit more from sides and bottom. I concur with David in that with a 45MP sensor and this relatively minor crop, you will have nothing to worry about. I have gotten away with more extensive cropping using a 24MP R6II shooting birds.   Posted: 07/22/2025 15:22:28
