About the Image(s)
My roses were blooming nicely before we had a heat wave. Many buds
failed to bloom. Luckily I captured a few images before the heat caused
major distress. I set a tripod up on my back deck taking advantage
of the natural light to photograph this rose. Processed in Photoshop.

You captured this rose beautifully with all its petals in sharp focus and everything perfectly exposed. I like the tiny bud behind it. Because the background is blurred, it adds a nice softness to the image. If I were to make any suggestions it would be to crop off a little on the right side perhaps making the image a square format.   Posted: 07/02/2025 14:02:39
Thank you, David. Good suggestion.   Posted: 07/02/2025 15:07:49
Hi Barbara,
I like how your rose stands out against the green background. The amount of detail on the flower and the soft, blurred background complement each other very well.
My only suggestion would be to try flipping the image to the right and see which composition you prefer.

Thank you, Maria. I will try flipping it.   Posted: 07/13/2025 23:38:15
Nice image of a rose. Good detail in the petals. Good to see you used a tripod which would allow you to use a smaller aperture and gain more DOF on the petals. Love the darker background with the darkened leaves. I think your composition is good with the bud in the upper right on a nice diagonal. I would not flip the image. Great lighting.   Posted: 07/17/2025 00:49:03

Barbara, apology for the late review. Very nice pic with good detail in the petals. A suggestion might be to see how it looks if you decrease the highlights in the outer petals on the bottom half of the flower and increased the exposure of the very center of the rose, to draw attention to that part of the flower and highlight its beautiful detail. I like the bud shooting off at the top.   Posted: 07/27/2025 11:59:49
