About the Image(s)
Tulips are blooming everywhere with so many beautiful colors. I
purchased the plant from a local shop. It was raining outside so I
photographed the plant inside placing a soft box to the side for
lighting. A tripod was used.

Looks like you had the same idea as me this month...shoot tulips inside a studio environment. I like your selective focus on the front tulip details especially the water drops on the tulip petals. To me, this is the main image. I might crop out the tulips in the back, just leaving parts of them for context.   Posted: 05/01/2025 11:38:14
Thank you, David.   Posted: 05/07/2025 21:26:45
Like this image a lot. I like the detail in the main tulip with the water drops an added plus. I like the composition with the main subject in the lower left in the group of three. Like how the main tulip is cradled in the leaves which separates it from the other tulips. You did well with the lighting using one main light on the left to bring focus on the main tulip with the other two tulips in the shadows which to my eye is important to the composition. This makes the image have great depth.
The only thing I might change is the color of the background. I feel a different background would give the tulips more impact. When I am shooting inside, I like to try different backgrounds I have made on mat board. It just takes seconds when set-up to change backgrounds and see what works best.

Thank you for your kind comments, Dick. I agree with you. The background is boring. I'll make some different backgrounds to use.   Posted: 05/09/2025 23:13:12
I may have said this before, I make my backgrounds using the paint floral designers use to tint flowers. They come in most any colors in craft stores.   Posted: 05/10/2025 00:35:26
Hi Barbara,
You did very well capturing this image in the studio. The lighting beautifully enhances the water droplets and the texture of the flower petals. The composition works nicely, forming a triangle and using a controlled depth of field that adds dimension to the scene.
However, the background color doesn't quite enhance the flowers as much as it could. I agree with the other members, that perhaps a different background color might make the flowers stand out even more.
