 Dried Flowers by Diana Duffey

March 2025 - Dried Flowers

About the Image(s)

Took this image during our Camera Club workshop meeting. Used my Sony R5 with a tripod:
90 mm macro lens, ISO100, F22, SS1.3. In Photoshop, I removed some blemishesand and extended
the sides and the top of the canvas. I also did a levels adjustment. Your comments are always
appreciated.

Hi Diana,
Love the colors! Nice texture. Dried flowers have character. I like your composition. To my eye the flowers are not sharp. I would try to sharpen and brighten the flowers.   Posted: 03/11/2025 12:59:53

Shooting dried flowers isn't easy usually because they are so three dimensional, and you need plenty of depth of field. Focus stacking would have helped. But at a camera club workshop, it might not be practical. I did see one of your other images from the workshop in Group 10. I thought that your image of a Peruvian lily (which I also submitted this month here in Group 65) was excellent!   Posted: 03/12/2025 05:38:26

I agree with Barbara about the sharpness. At f-22 I feel it should be sharp. I would like to see a little more brightness on the flowers and less light on the background.   Posted: 03/16/2025 21:01:40

The contrasting colors make the flowers stand out. A sharper focus would have made the whole photo pop more.   Posted: 03/26/2025 21:45:43
