About the Image(s)
This plant is 35 years old. I received it as a gift from a local bank
for opening a new account. It's treated with tender, loving care. The
camera was set up on a tripod. A remote controller was also used. A
Lume cube with a diffuser attached was used for the lighting. I light
painted the image in a dark room. Multiple shots were taken before
getting a decent shot.
Happy New Year!

Happy new year, Barbara! First, it's amazing that you were able to keep this plant thriving for 35 years. I remember those days when banks would give you gifts for opening an account. The lighting on the plant is beautiful. I wouldn't have guessed it was light painted. I'm curious why you cropped off the left and right sides.   Posted: 01/02/2025 14:14:35

Thank you, David. The plant is twice the size presented. I cropped it to improve the composition. I see now I also should have removed part of the stem on the left side.   Posted: 01/14/2025 14:56:17

I would never think to take this image, but I really like this. Like the colors with the green leaves against the brick red container. Nice composition with the flow from left to right. The woodgrain on the tabletop goes well with the plant and pot. I would clone out the stem and leaf on the left side. Would town down the leaves along the right side near the edge. Good eye to see this image.   Posted: 01/15/2025 00:11:10

Happy New Year, Barbara! Hard to believe you have had this plant for 35 years. It looks so healthy. You did a great job with the light painting. You selected a great subject to light paint. I like how Dick cloned and cropped the image on the left side. I agree with Dick, the upper right leaf is a little too bright and needs to be toned down a bit.   Posted: 01/15/2025 02:21:45

Happy New Year, Barbara! This image reminds me of one of my plants, which has been with me for thirty-two years now.
The lighting really enhances the plant, and I love how it's beautifully isolated from the black background. The red pot is a perfect complement to the plant. My only suggestion would be to remove the stem that touches the border on the left side, as Dick mentioned.   Posted: 01/20/2025 19:32:51
