About the Image(s)
Unfurled Jimsom Weed bloom. The only thing I did was to remove a few distracting spots and to add a border. I also cropped some off the right side.

Nice curves and texture in the plant. I like the pale lilac bloom against the green leaves. I would remove a few more distracting imperfections on the leaves and flower. It would improve the image.   Posted: 12/07/2024 17:05:58

I'm a little torn about this image. It's reasonably sharp, and the white flower stands out against the green leaves. But I don't find much more in the image to hold my attention. The lighting is rather harsh, and the flower is partially covered by some leaves. The weed is toxic and invasive - not a very pleasant plant. It is a good record shot though.   Posted: 12/09/2024 00:59:49

Indeed, Jimsom weed is quite toxic and invasive. The light is quite harsh in this image which creates dark shadows. Part of the flower is behind behind the leaves... It is a good record shot, like David wrote.   Posted: 12/16/2024 02:44:55

I really like the flower and its shape. Agree with the other comments.   Posted: 12/17/2024 15:05:39

Hi Shirley,
You've captured the shape of this flower beautifully, especially at the moment when it's presenting that lovely spiral shape, which adds interest to the image. Unfortunately, the harsh lighting has created strong shadows and washed out the color in the flower.
The main issue I see is the lack of separation between the leaves and the flower. I assume that the aperture you used resulted in a similar depth of field throughout, which affected the overall result.
I would suggest using a wider aperture to reduce the depth of field. By focusing on the beautiful spiral shape, you could isolate that detail and create a more appealing image.
