About the Image(s)

The flower was photographed this summer outside in my garden. I took one
shot of the flower, and one shot of the flower blurred. Then I merged
the two images in camera. I thought I would try a softer approach.

A very pleasant image of a yellow zinnia. The center is sharp and the surrounding petals have that Lensbaby-blurred look to it. I would suggest darkening the bright spots and lightening the dark petals and background areas to give the image a more uniform brightness. I took a stab at evening the brightness of your image in Nik Collection's Vivesa. I also brightened the center and added a slight vignette to draw the eye to the flower.   Posted: 12/03/2024 01:53:22

Barbara, I like how you merged the two images. By merging the two images you were able to get a very nice blurred background. The center of your flower is sharp and rest of the flower has that Lensbaby soft look. David has given you some nice edit suggestions.
I am going to try merging two images when photographing my flowers.   Posted: 12/16/2024 02:23:21

Nice Lensbaby image. Lensbaby gives another dimension to an image, it allows one to feel-not just see the beauty in this image. Love the background and the composition. I like what David did.   Posted: 12/17/2024 14:43:17

Hi Barbara,
I really like the mood of this image. Presenting it with a softer, less sharp approach gives it an artistic feel, where the blurriness blends beautifully with subtle touches of clarity. The colour palette is gorgeous.

If I could suggest one thing, it would be to increase the luminosity in the area of the sharp petals. This would help create a stronger center of attention, surrounded by the softness of the rest of the flower, making it feel even more mysterious.
