About the Image(s)
On a trip to the West Texas region a few weeks ago, we passed this pre-war Ford fire truck sitting in a lot along the roadway. I am attracted to objects like this and stopped to spend some time taking photos of various sections and pieces. There are lots of possible crops and this was the one I settled on after looking at various possibilities. This image is a mosaic of repainted colors, bits of rust, labels and letters, and lines. My eye wanders around this image from top right to middle left, to the bottom rust hole and back to the top (and sometimes the other way around)??“ all connected by the horizontal lines.
Taken with my Sony A7R5; 1/250; f13.0; 42mm, ISO 100. In post, I increased the contrast and make a few other basic adjustments.

This is a second painterly photo in this month's collection, where the layers of old brushed paint literally produce the illusion, not a heat mirage.I do not see the matador lettering in the original, but perhaps you had two similar originals and uploaded an alternate one.
The rust hole is a crucial element that creates the tip of a long, narrow triangle whose other two anchors are the head light and the Ford logo. It also interacts with the three black vent lines extending from the Ford logo. Together with the texture provided by the paint layers and rust, the eye has a lot to explore here.   Posted: 04/18/2026 12:40:20
