About the Image(s)

Taken with a Fuji XT5 camera. ISO 125: f/14: 1/125 sec.
This was at a museum in Bishop CA. The scene caught my eye with the diminutive building and the contrasting textures in the landscape elements and the two buildings. There was no way to avoid the many distractions, so I thought I could do so in post-processing if I liked the photo. The color version is interesting, but I thought it might make a decent B & W as well, and I need something for an upcoming competition.
In Lightroom I cropped in to emphasize the building as the focal point and leveled the horizon line at the base of the mountains. I adjusted the exposure, contrast, highlights, clarity, and used denoise. I used AI to remove the picnic table, the telephone wires, and the top of the left tree. I then ran the image through NIK Silver Efex and selected a preset that I thought enhanced the image beyond what I had achieved in LR. I tweaked it once I reimported it to LR.

Your choice of B&W is right on, Diana. You did a great job of post processing and elinminating distractions. It speaks to time and place and I found myself wondering about its history.
Nice fore-,middle-, and backgrounds, too.

B&W really brings this photo back in time. I like the color print too.   Posted: 12/17/2025 03:19:16

Diana, you made a great choice in turning it into B&W. Much improved over the original with the steps you took to improve it. What category will you put it in for the competition?   Posted: 12/18/2025 01:27:00
