About the Image(s)

Here is this month’s photo. Only the Main is submitted, as it is very close to original.

I took this photo in June, 2025 while traveling through West Texas. In processing it, I adjusted light and colors in ACR. The sunset was a little blow-out, so I cloned in the yellow instead of the white. Otherwise, this was pretty much the photo at sunset that evening.

Rita,

This is an interesting photo in that it juxtaposes a beautiful sunset complete with god-rays through the clouds with a rather dreary scene of what looks to be a wind-operated pump on an oil shaft fenced off with barbed wire. While I think you were drawn primarily by the sunset, what you captured offers a commentary on humanity vs. nature. At the time, did you consider or was it possible for you to change your position so that the windmill would have been in the right third of the picture, with the open land to the left? It is almost in the center, which in this case, does not seem warranted.   Posted: 11/11/2025 00:23:43

This image does speak to the rural nature of windmill locations, Rita. It also shows that there can be beauty in the dreary. I think the windmill is in the correct position for your timing with the rays. If it had been enough to the right to be in the thirds it would have drawn your attention from the rays and you would have had two subjects. A bit more to the rght would have given the sun a little more room, though. Great light and color!I like the way the sun is giving light to the foreground.   Posted: 11/13/2025 00:50:14
