About the Image(s)

aken with a Fuji XT5 camera. ISO 125: 279 mm: f 3.6; 1/125 sec. This was shot inside one of the buildings at the Law Museum on the outskirts of Bishop, CA. My eye was drawn to the still-life quality of the scene and the more open weave of the burlap curtains juxtaposed with the sawn wood paneling. There was no light source inside the room. I hand held the camera.
I edited the color version, cropping, using masks to darken the window strip with no curtain and to lighten the larger metal pot on the left and the shadows on the left side more generally. I tweaked most of the sliders in Lightroom. I then thought the photo might be a good candidate for a B&W entry in one of my local photo club competitions. After converting to B& W I readjusted the Lightroom sliders and exported to NIK Silver Efex. I systematically went through the options and found one that really enhanced the texture in the curtains and gave me an instant emotional response. I exported the version back to Lightroom and finished with one more mask to slightly darken the right side so the eye would not be drawn there and out of the picture.

Great shot. I love it in B&W. I also love it in the colored version.   Posted: 11/05/2025 19:07:24
