About the Image(s)
Taken with a Fuji XT5. ISO 125, stop 8.0, 1/8 sec: 50 mm length. Used a tripod.
Our local club did an outing to Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea in CA to do sunset photos. I was intrigued by the shallow pools in the sand on the shoreline and the reflected light patterns of both light and dark and wanted to include those in the foreground against the sunset reflected along the far shore horizon.
In editing I straightened the horizon and cropped down the amount of sky, which did not hold enough interest to warrant added height. I adjusted the various sliders and the tonal curves in Lightroom a bit to to heighten the overall mood, and I used a linear mask on the right top corner to tone down the lighter yellow tones there to prevent the eye from moving out of the frame, returning instead to the middle water area and lower pools and dark sand.
