About the Image(s)
A while ago I had a used Sony Alpha 7II converted to IR (infrared). I took a few pics but found the post processing complex so I didn't do any more. Since then I have learned a bit more and renewed my interest. This photo was a couple of days ago at Ship Rock NM. Ship Rock is in the background. The attached IR image was converted to bw and then NIK Silver Effects was applied. 1/8000, f4.0,ISO 100, Sony 24-105(24mm).

Great image Dean! The tonal quality is perfect. You've mastered your IR camera.   Posted: 04/15/2025 00:47:04
Thanks Anne. I think I am a long way from mastery of this camera.   Posted: 04/15/2025 01:08:15

Very striking image, Dean. I do not know what difference the IR makes but converted to B&W, you have the full range of tonality with lots of diagonal lines among the various rock leading your eye from the bottom right to the top left. And the clouds add additional drama, setting off the rock peaks against shades of white that dissipate into tiny pockets of clear sky by degrees, giving the effect of mist almost. I might try to mask the slightly light patch of grass above the rock around the power point of the lower horizontal line and right vertical line and tone it down a tad to see if it prevented my eye from being drawn there. But otherwise, I see nothing to change.   Posted: 04/15/2025 16:52:48
