About the Image(s)

This photo was taken from the shore on a foggy late July morning. The scene with so much fog was what I liked. The data on it was Exp 1/200, F8, and Focal Length 144. In processing it I adjusted the light and colors in ACR, added some subtle fog and soft focus in Nik Color Efex Pro, and denoised it with Topaz. I made a small print with this crop and liked it printed, but it might be cropped in too much for the digital. All comments and suggested improvements appreciated.

Rita,
I like the pano version of this. So I would crop in from top and bottom but not much left to right. See attached.   Posted: 03/08/2025 13:02:05

Or remove the boat. Normally I like foreground in a landscape type image but not sure about keeping the boat in.   Posted: 03/08/2025 13:03:45

Rita,

The atmospheric fog gives nice mood. I like the boat in the picture. It is not a landscape really with the houses in the fog; but your crop does capture the enthusiasm of those who will fish in almost any weather. You have placed the boat approximately on the left third vertical line and it feels well-located. I would be tempted to take more water off the bottom and possibly a little off the sky if that does not leave you with too few pixels overall, given how much has been cropped.   Posted: 03/10/2025 20:25:26

I like foggy atmosphere, too, Rita! I find the boat a bit distracting because it's not muted by fog and not a particularly attractive subject. When I looked at your original I was taken with the trees peeking out of the fog in the top right area. Maybe focusing on that area rather than the area with the boat would provide the foggy atnoshpere you were looking for.

Erin, I liked that area too, but it is to the far right. I sharpened the boat, so maybe I need to undo that. The elements should all work together. Thanks.

Diana, I think I have the pixels to do that. Thanks.   Posted: 03/15/2025 14:07:18
