About the Image(s)
I took this photo in late May, 2023 in the desert outside of Roswell, N.M. I developed it for a desert scene. It might do better in competition as a B&W for a desert scene? The original was taken with Aperture priority, 1/250, F8, and local length of 104. I took with a Sony RX10iv, 24 - 600mm, F2.4 - 4.0 lens.
When I processed it I used Photoshop and took it into Adobe Camera Raw to adjust the light and colors. I did try it in B&W, just a simple conversion, but I did not like that as well. I went back to the color and tried to retain the sky colors of the yellows and blues. I also put it in Nik Color Effects, increased the saturation, added detail extractor, and then denoised it. I ended up making it 18 x 12 to retain more the landscape vs so much sky. Any suggestions of how it can be improved or successfully made into a B&W are greatly appreciated.

The sky with the God rays is the star of this landscape image. It appears that you cropped out what looks like a sidewalk, which is good. I also would consider cropping the small pile of gravel in the lower left. In general, the foreground isn't very interesting but I don't know if cropping more of it out would help.   Posted: 12/06/2024 16:53:30
