Was practicing Macro without a flash, when I noticed this hover fly on a flower where one small beam of sunlight was on the fly and flower and background was dark.
Used Lightroom to post process. Minimal change to exposure and color. Denoised and sharpened.
My intent was to finally create a sharp macro image with a brilliant color. I've shot lots of fussy ones.

Kia Ora Keith. Well spotted at the moment nature provided the perfect lighting! You've captured great detail on the hover fly at work. The colours are lovely.   Posted: 10/03/2026 00:45:46
This is a wonderful macro shot with nice focus and details - even the hairs on the hover fly's legs. The colors and blurred background are nice. It's too bad that the wings could not be more in focus. If you are not submitting this for a nature competition, I would clone out the yellow on the purple flower since it is not in focus as much as your main subjects. I think you accomplished your intent. Very nice!   Posted: 10/03/2026 14:18:08

Welcome to the group! A photo that has the 2 items that I love - flower and insects. A nice combination of colors. I would suggest rotating the photo so that the flower is at the bottom or at the corner which would put the bee either more horizontal or angled.   Posted: 10/03/2026 15:31:16
