About the Image(s)
I brought my camera to a wildlife preserve in Australia. An emu was in a low fenced in area… and I probably took the shot at 100mm As I was taking the photo the emu came closer and just after I pressed the shutter release it pecked. I screamed and a couple down the way got a real kick out of this..

Kia Ora Elizabeth. What a cool story - and a fabulous image! You've got great detail in the eyes and beak - and that expression is priceless. The vignette really brings out the story.   Posted: 10/03/2026 00:57:30
Your focus is so good in the "in your face" portrait of the Emu. I love, love, love the blurred background and its colors. Your centered composition works well. You caught the moment wonderfully. I would suggest opening the shadows for his open beak and brightening his eyes.   Posted: 10/03/2026 14:39:36

Welcome to the group. I'm a newcomer as well and live in AZ as well.
This photo made me laugh out loud. Then I read your explanation and laughed again! Great bokeh and the lighting/focus on the beak really accentuate what is important (funny) about the photo. Nice job.
