Azalea by Cindy Lynch

August 2026 - Azalea

About the Image(s)

I liked the shades of pink in the flower and the fact that the background was nice and dark. I wanted to leave some of the background showing so the flower wasn’t floating. I used the clarity slider and darkened the background more. I saw some beauty in a flower that I wouldn’t ordinarily photograph. Settings: f/9, ISO 160, 38 mm and 1/200.

I like the colors and agree about keeping the background. I do have a minor preference that the main/front flower is pointed down so that the 2 side flowers feel heavier. Maybe flipping the photo upside down? That would give flowers a pyramidal shape with the two side flowers anchoring the shape. Even so, a lovely photo.   Posted: 08/09/2026 22:04:21

Kia ora Cindy. This is a lovely image - I also like the colours, and agree with your decision to keep some of the background visible to anchor the azalea.   Posted: 08/16/2026 22:04:20
