About the Image(s)
I went to San Juan Pueta Rico, the first week of July, for vacation. I didn't get too many close-up photos, but here is one I liked. I shot it with my Olympus EM1 Mark 3 with the 12-100 lens, processed in Lightroom Classic. I tried to darken the background and edges.
This is a Crinum Lily (specifically from the genus Crinum), often popularly referred to as a Spider Lily or a "Milk and Wine" Lily due to that distinctive striping pattern.
They are incredibly hardy, long-lived perennial bulbs belonging to the Amaryllis family (Amaryllidaceae). They love warm climates and are a staple in tropical and southern landscapes.
Fun Fact: These bulbs can grow to absolutely massive sizes over the decades??”some older clumps can weigh upwards of 20 to 40 pounds underground!

I like that you have captured a head of flowers with such a range of stages from young unopened blooms, through to those browning off. Darkening the background really works well, and highlights the flowers.   Posted: 07/13/2026 22:55:59
