Feather by Bob Crocker

March 2025 - Feather

About the Image(s)

Wanted to get a closeup of this feather but in the end didn't like what came from lighting from the front. This silhouette image is the one I like best; kinda moody but I think it works for the kind of weather we have been having. Image taken with my Sony a6500, 90mm macro lens at F13, ISO 100, 1/2 sec, and a -1EV. Lighting from behind and to the right with a LED work light and Christmas lights as a background.

Kia ora Bob - I like your choice of silhouette, it works effectively with the busy background. The lighting set up, including the Christmas lights, works well and your colour tonings tie the image together as a whole.   Posted: 03/11/2025 15:33:29

An interesting juxtaposition of the feather silhouette and the background. My only suggestion is to lighten the background a little. Very interesting and creative set-up and technique.   Posted: 03/14/2025 16:59:25

Interesting to have the feather silhouetted. The image is sharp, the background is very effective, and the texture in the upper part of the background is good. I like the image and would not change a thing.   Posted: 03/19/2025 18:47:39

I think this is a great capture. I love the silhouette on the bokeh background. I also like the composition and how the feather is slightly off center in the image.   Posted: 03/25/2025 23:41:02

The more I look, the more I like. How did you suspend the feather? Colors are complimentary and composition holds attention. I'd like to try a silhouette sometime.   Posted: 03/30/2025 02:15:16
