About the Image(s)

I just came back from Scotland yesterday evening. Here is my photo: This is the Jacobite steam train stop Fort William, used and Tamron 15-35 at f16, ISO 800. (It is the train used in the Harry Potter movies). I cropped it and attached a sky in ON1. The original was not cropped, except to eliminate a small light rock in the foreground edge. Saturation and vibrance were increased as were the contrast and structure settings, enough to create some texture. I could not change the pink cast of the clouds. I much prefer the lightness of the original. The issue is the composition of each version.

Lovely scene you've captured. In some ways, I like the deeper greens of the original, but you definitely improved the sky with the replacement.

I added a bit of sharpening, adjusted the greens some, added some vibrance, and then did some targeted burning to add some dimensionality. Thoughts?   Posted: 09/15/2023 12:20:27

Very good suggestions. By "targeted" do you mnanselected local burning?   Posted: 09/17/2023 18:40:41

Yes, adding darkening to areas that would be deeper in the scene. I add a blank layer and change the blend mode to Overlay, then paint with a black brush set to 5% opacity. To Dodge, simply change the color to white.   Posted: 09/17/2023 18:46:28
