About the Image(s)
I was taken by the color on the bug. (Anybody know what it is?) The most curious thing was that it let me get about two inches away and never moved. If wasn't until I got the image on the iPad that I saw what looked like small bugs toward the upper left corner. Hence the "Battle" title

Have you tried one of the bug I D apps? This one really stands out on the field of white. Nice catch. The little bugs look quite nasty if viewed with a magnifier.   Posted: 07/02/2026 17:37:03
Is there a bug ID app? I'll look for it   Posted: 07/03/2026 16:43:27
This nice close-up, or macro, image brought back childhood memories. We would find these critters around the yard in the summertime. The distinctive black and orange pattern of Boxelder Bugs makes them hard to forget. That coloration contrasts well with the white of the blossoms. I agree with Richard about the smaller bugs. I have no clue what those are.
It's a nice capture. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for the name of the bug. So, they must be everywhere.   Posted: 07/03/2026 16:44:25
Could this be a mother or father Boxelder bug and the reason it didn't move is cause protecting it babies? Maybe little ones are baby bugs? Have no idea if bugs nurture their young. The white flowers are definitely a good backdrop for emphasing the color of the largest bug. Interesting capture.   Posted: 07/08/2026 00:19:48
Nice capture of the boxelder bug and maybe three of its young. The white field of flowers really gives a nice background and your frame sits the whole composition off nicely. Well done.   Posted: 07/11/2026 03:12:54
