April 2026 - Old Town Fountain

I was walking around Old Town in Florence,OR last week and saw this interesting fountain. Shot with my iPHONE 17 Pro using portrait mode in stage light. I cropped a little and did an auto edit in the phone photo app.

Outstanding lighting Pam. Nice editing with your new iPhone. I am sharing my thoughts with everyone that a thing border even makes this. a stronger image. When you open the camera, at the bottom next to photo is portrait. Select portrait and then you have the options natural light, studio light, contour light, and then stage light. When you are on stage light a circle appears on the screen and tells you if you need to move farther away from the subject and there is also a level indicator. I like the soft lighting that isolates the subject from the background. I also like the old-fashioned appearance of the column coupled with the seemingly out of place (for those times) dog water bowl. It made me smile.
I haven't tried the different lighting options in Portrait Mode, so thanks for helping me to think about trying them. I'll experiment a bit this month.

Would be interesting to see this photo with your Golden Retriever companion drinking from dog fountain. Good eye to see the possibilities in this 3 level fountain. Like bench in background as creates setting. Must be a very dog friendly park. Posted: 04/12/2026 14:11:47
