About the Image(s)

The leaves on one of me indoor plants intrigues me with the pattern. Tried to capture its beauty but not sure succeeded. I did light editing in Snapseed and then ran the photo through the Dramatic Black and White app and chose the option with a greenish tint. Do either photos work? How would you have photographed or precessed the plant and its leaves? I carried the plant outside to photograph for the natural light and took pics after watering it which why leaves so shiny.

Nice images Lynne. I especially like the Black and White version. I am the first to tell you that one of my mistakes is that I forget to put in borders that give the viewer a better idea where the photo starts and stops. I do believe a thin border on both images would even make both stronger images. Jerry   Posted: 04/03/2026 16:14:33

I spent time trying to find the correct frame for BW image but UNFORTUNATELY it's a black frame which displayed well in app but not on PSA site. Funny.   Posted: 04/12/2026 14:22:21

The black and white version is much more dramatic, while the color version's highlights and color shifts are interesting.
I like both versions. Jerry is right about borders as usual.   Posted: 04/04/2026 15:22:54

Yes on the B&W version. What saves this, in my opinion, is that two the leaves which are off center are brighter than the rest. The eye has a place to rest.   Posted: 04/05/2026 16:51:26

I think both versions are good. I'm a fan of BW so if pressed, I'd probably pick that one.

The abstract nature of the images is what I like. The meaning and significance of the shapes is open to interpretation by the viewer. I like that.

My only quibble is that the tips of the closest leaves are out of focus. I understand that getting everything just the way the photographer wants it can be difficult when using a small-screen device. I've had that experience myself.

Thanks for impressions. I was trying to get abstract impression of leaves. Hard photographing nature as more beautiful and intricate then we can portray although we come close.   Posted: 04/12/2026 14:26:27

I love the bw version. Like Robert I see the two areas of leaves that are out of focus, one on the right and one on the left. I'm wondering if you backed up a bite when you take the picture and then you can crop to the composition you want, if that would solve the issue. The phone cameras are really good about getting everything in focus. It might also be caused by not having the camera level to the subject. You have the plant so lots of time to play with it.   Posted: 04/11/2026 00:28:37
