Man on Path - How I Did It by Sol Blechman

December 2025 - Man on Path - How I Did It

About the Image(s)

The image started out with just the path. A few moments, in a higher place of the path, a man came walking down with a tiny dog on a leash. So I copied the man onto the first image in SuperimposeX and then cloned out the dog and leash in Retouch. After blending the layers, I did some final touchup in Snapseed. I'm using an iPhone and if you weren't aware, it's easy to lift the subject copy off the image and save it as a layer..

Nice editing Sol. Using SuperimposeX and Retouch did what you wanted. My method has been using Lightroom Mobile or Distressed FX+. Different ways to "skin a cat".
I like that you had this nice sidewalk coming down a hill. A super location in this Fall setting. Jerry   Posted: 12/10/2025 15:55:30

Nice job! I like the placement of the man, but why not keep the dog and leash? That would explain his attention to hie left and tilt in that direction.
Can you tell us more about layers on our phones?   Posted: 12/11/2025 18:31:57

The dog was too tiny for me to work with. It fell apart when enlarged. The man's hand is hard to see as it sort of buried in the jacket's sleeve.

On the iPhone anyway, if you hold your finger on the subject a copy will appear which your can email to yourself and then use it anyway you'd like.   Posted: 12/18/2025 13:21:59

I agree with Richard, why not post the original with the dog, it would definitely tell a story.   Posted: 12/12/2025 13:17:54

I tried that. See my answer to Richard.   Posted: 12/18/2025 13:22:31

I like the idea and your experiment. It's a nice scene to work with due to the colors and that strong vertical tree that orients the image. I have to agree with the others that including the dog and the leash would have been an improvement, but I can imagine that it would have been difficult using apps. Using Photoshop or Lightroom mobile might would have worked better, I can't be sure, but that may not have been your desire.

The minute I looked at the photograph I wondered where is the dog as the man was obviously walking one. All of your technology changes of placing the man in the scene are beyond my scope at the moment. Something I would like to explore. The placement of the man looks very natural especially catching one foot in midstep.Good work on interesting photo reality change project.   Posted: 12/14/2025 21:16:44

You are correct but when I tried that the dog was a tiny blip. The man was enlarged a lot from the image it was grabbed from.   Posted: 12/18/2025 13:24:20
