About the Image(s)

Was photographing this gull eating dead fish when a wave came and washed its meal away. Oops.

I really like how you caught the split moment of the Gull was raising its wings to take off. Great timing. I like the background and the excellent foreground. You also caught the sharpness of the beak and eyes of the Gull. Bravo!

You have the most interesting locations for many of your images. Jerry   Posted: 12/10/2025 15:38:33

This image is amazingly sharp. How close were you? and how much had to be cropped? As an avid birder I am always looking for ways to get bird photos with my phone. You nailed it with this one.   Posted: 12/11/2025 18:15:58

I was pretty close and photo wasn't cropped. Gulls are not afraid of humans and delight in stealing food off beach blankets. Sometimes they swoop down on young child walking boardwalk and steal a pizza slice or ice cream cone.   Posted: 12/13/2025 23:51:27

Nice action capture with a fun story to go with it. It is sharp as Richard mentioned. Foamy waves maybe with a little motion blur, too. Nice colors. Nice shot.

There is one thing I don't quite understand about the two white streaks going down from the gull's body to the water. At first glance, I thought they were the gull's legs. Then I noticed there is a discontinuity in the left leg. Now I'm not sure what those white streaks are. Can you help me understand?   Posted: 12/13/2025 22:23:05

That's a sad story Robert. The gull has an injured leg and was limping which meant that a healthier gull stole its fish after it was washed away. Didn't get chance to identify leg injury. Sometimes they get fishing line wrapped around a leg.   Posted: 12/13/2025 23:48:04

With the caption it makes for an interesting image. Perfect capture of the open wings. Looks like you were standing in the water?   Posted: 12/18/2025 13:46:05
