An interesting scene that invites a story. Your description tells us why the buildings are included since the driftwood points away from them. Lots to think about in this image.   Posted: 11/07/2025 15:23:56

Really an interesting location and the story about the former Fort Hancock Office Quarter Buildings. I agree with Richard's comments. Jerry   Posted: 11/08/2025 15:24:04

I like your thinking in this composition. The driftwood points up toward the buildings. The vertical lines of the wood, the grasses and the buildings all work well together. So, here's my thought: Shooting in vertical format might have worked pretty well for this scene. If you will forgive my indulgence, I edited your photo (with Photoshop) to demonstrate what I mean. Please let me know what you think.

Think you did an excellent job of illustrating how well the scene works in vertical but it runs up against, and may not be realistic or right impulse, my Jersey Shore bias which is to always include ocean or bay in photo if it is near the scene I'm photographing.   Posted: 11/11/2025 22:11:55

That makes sense to me. The ocean is a significant subject, so I can understand your perspective. Thank you for your feedback.

I had to go to Wikipedia to research and love your analogy. I was saved because I was "walking without rhythm" cause actually looking for sea glass. Thanks for that interesting analogy.   Posted: 11/13/2025 15:51:29

I like your vision and how you wanted to have the driftwood lead the eye to the fort buildings in a more unique way. I did find that I was distracted by the beach grass on the left side and the small area of water on the right. For me the edit that Robert did puts the focus on the driftwood and the buildings. It's all a personal choice.   Posted: 11/16/2025 02:07:54
