SECRET DOOR: This track to an underground door at Fort Hancock at Sandy Hook Gateway National Park is off the beaten path. I like the long leading line of tracks into the tunnel. My grandkids, when younger, found it spooky to bike down this enshrouded path with mysterious black door at the end. Shot with my Samsung Galaxy S21 and then light editing in Snapseed.

Lynne, this really is a spooky image. Glad you had good lighting. I would not want to be there at low light. The great leading lines with the old railroad track and then the shut door at the end. Lots of mysterious pathways this month. I'll have to look up the history of Ft Hancock. So much history and intrigue in these old places. Your phone camera did a great job of handling the highlights and shadows. I love exploring places like this. Posted: 04/08/2025 23:06:30
That closed door at the end of the track changes everything. Unlike my comments with Jerry's image, this one conveys loss of hope in a lovely way. That contrast really works. Nice light too. Nicely done. Posted: 04/10/2025 19:19:45
I have to admit that my first reaction to this shot was that it must have been taken at a historical site in Germany. Your description corrected me, of course, but there still is a real sense of history and drama in your image. The lighting is great, and the tracks lead us visually into the depth of the scene. Nicely seen and captured.
