ICE SKATING by Lynne Royce

February 2025 - ICE SKATING

About the Image(s)

While visiting family in Connecticut last month we drove by a pond where we saw the ice skaters. I yelled "Stop" and jumped out of the car. The 2 dogs were the wild card. They were running all over the place. Wanted both dogs in the photo. Dogs finally paused and looked in my direction so quickly shot with my Android phone and captured the quintessential Connecticut scene. Light editing in Snapseed.

Lynne, another special image. I am glad that asked to stop the car. The dogs and the informal hockey game. Great sky and colors on the men sweaters and jackets. Hope you gave your Connecticut family a copy. Jerry   Posted: 02/01/2025 15:37:23

You are right about the importance of the dogs. I also think the two people on the left holding the ends of the hockey stick are a nice touch. the stick serves as a bridge over the wall and helps the viewer move into the scene.   Posted: 02/01/2025 20:16:15

It looks like a fun time skating on the ice. The people spread out over the ice keeps my eyes moving around the image. Nice colors. The dogs almost look like they posed for you. Nice winter scene. Nice catch.

The images in the photo are an engaging public, winter scene.
The dogs are so cute that I wonder if you crop and bring them more to the foreground that it would make them stand out more. A lovely scene.   Posted: 02/05/2025 06:30:07

I want my photography to capture a moment in time and rearranging items in the photo belies that. Looking forward to seeing how you use this technique in your photography.   Posted: 02/05/2025 16:16:32

A great winter scene. Winter scenes can be dull and drab but the colorful sweaters and hats plus the green of the pine tree bring life and interest to the image. I love that the dogs are looking at you but the people are just going about their activity.   Posted: 02/06/2025 00:37:36

Did Norman Rockwell take this picture so he could then paint it? The scene tells the story pefectly. The dogs add a kind of believeability to the image.   Posted: 02/07/2025 11:09:13
