Fall Color by Robert Barley

November 2024 - Fall Color

About the Image(s)

I found this composition near a local park one morning in September. I thought the yellow leaves against the blue sky would make a good image. It was edited with Snapseed to reduce the highlights - like the white fence - and to increase the vibrance. I cropped the image and flipped it horizontally to put the fence on the left side. Robert

I always enjoy your attraction to strong lines. This one leads us into the grove of lovely trees. The two big, mostly bare, areas (sky and grass) balance well. Nicely done.   Posted: 11/06/2024 18:43:26

The fence works so well to take us into the image. Nice scene with good detail in the grass.   Posted: 11/09/2024 13:07:42

Robert, Simple and Beautiful. You caught colors in just a natural way that if is a winner. With a little cropping, it could become a Post Card. Jerry   Posted: 11/11/2024 20:01:32

I love your use of the fence as a leading line. It's a lovely photo. You might want to crop it a little to showcase the vibrancy of the trees.   Posted: 11/12/2024 15:29:17

You make a good point. I cropped it with a little more fence than it needed. So, less fence and more trees and sky might have been better. Thanks!

Beautiful example of fall in a pastoral setting. Using the leading line of the fence works well. I agree with Rita in maybe less fence and sky to put more of the focus on the fall trees.   Posted: 11/17/2024 20:03:48

Thank you. It was a great day to be out. As the saying goes, "A fence is a photographer's friend," but maybe I used too much of it in this case.

The colors are what make this image shine for me . The brilliant white fence as leading line. The vibrant orangish, yellow fall leaves and the brilliant blue sky. Composition also well thought out. On a tangent I'm getting tired of blue skies as New Jersey has had endless parade of blue, cloudless skies with not a drop of rain for over a month.   Posted: 11/17/2024 21:33:51

Thank you, Lynne.

Ordinarily I wouldn't wish inclement weather for someone, but I hope you get some sort of precipitation soon.
