About the Image(s)

For this month's image, I chose one that I shot last week during my trip to Coffs Harbour, a small city on the coast of North NSW.

I took it at the Moonee Beach Nature Reserve, a beautiful area to explore. I shot it handheld with a 200-600 zoom lens and edited in Photoshop. I cropped it to remove some empty space around the birds and enhanced the colour a bit.

Exif data:
Sutter: 1/5000
Apperture: f 8
ISO 1250
Shot with a Sony camera and a 200-600 mm lens at 594 mm

Maria,
This is a beautiful image. Especially, I like how your camera angle is inviting to the viewer to be on the same level as the two (I'll guess) Black Oystercatchers. Also, very nice bokeh.   Posted: 07/08/2024 16:12:09

Hi Ted,
These are a couple of Australian Pied Oystercatcher captured early in the morning at Moonee Beach, NSW . I really enjoy taking photos at the same eye level as the subject. This detail dramatically changes the impact of the image. Thanks for your comment.

One of my favorite birds, and such doting parents!

Wonderful angle, great that you got down low. I love the interaction of the two and the one leg up and the detail in the wings.

To improve -- the images seems slightly going downhill and there seems to be a slight halo around them, perhaps oversharpened?   Posted: 07/23/2024 00:04:49

Hi Lisa, thanks for your comment. You are right, I will straighten the horizon and remove the over-sharpening in that area   Posted: 07/29/2024 00:12:35

Again, great that you get down to their eye level. Good post processing. The position of the two birds and their bright eyes and background all make for a great photo. I might use the shadow brush on the bird lying down to bring out more detail. Well captured..   Posted: 07/28/2024 19:31:16
