Hi Ted, I like the original image! The reflection on the water is amazing. I don't like the frame on the image and it is a little distraction. I think the background on the final image does not work well, and it loses details too much. Thanks for sharing!   Posted: 12/11/2024 15:14:21

Xiao,
Thanks for your input on the images. I won't use the border anymore because it does distract from the image. Also, I should have left the original image alone instead of the cropped monochrome. Thanks for bringing up some solid suggestions.   Posted: 12/11/2024 18:44:48

Hi Ted,
This is a fantastic capture of the Great Blue Heron just as it catches a big fish!
I personally like the crop in the black-and-white version as it helps focus attention on the heron. However, I agree with Xiao that the frame feels a bit distracting, and the treatment of the background isn't working as effectively as it could.
I really like the reflection in the original file. If you add a bit of contrast and clean up the larger distracting spots, I think it would be a great improvement to the image.

Thank you Maria for your suggestions. I feel empowered to improve on this image. I appreciate your help. The border was something that was added, which I now know would've been better left out or at least minimized.   Posted: 12/16/2024 18:36:44
