About the Image(s)

This was taken with the iPhone 11 Pro Max during an early morning walk on Kiawah Island. Very few people were out with their dogs and the weather was perfect. I really liked seeing the clear blue sky and bright sunlight which was casting interesting light and shadows everywhere. I thought about converting this into a B & W but decided not to because I think the colors look so lovely.

Edited in Bridge/ basic sliders plus gradient filter on the sky and PS/curve adjustment tool and cropped.

I like the diagonals, the human figure and the sunbeams. I feel the peace and serenity. I cropped, flipped it, used cruves and vibrance to give it a bit more drama.   Posted: 07/05/2024 16:14:46

As always Art, thanks for your edit. I like the warm sun overhead since it gives the image a balance of warmth and coolness.

I liked the leading diagonal lines up the beach and to the horizon. I cropped out the majority of the sun because I felt it overwhelmed the coolness and serenity of the story. The dogs and person added the perspective a wide shot like this needs. Very nice.   Posted: 07/09/2024 16:47:41

Thank you, Kurtis. The beach was so serene that particular morning, the only one around was this lady and her dogs and me with mine! Seeing the lady with her pets in the ocean was a bonus, thank goodness my dogs stood still to let me get this shot!   Posted: 07/29/2024 16:25:02

Sylvia , it is a stunning vista. I miss to be at the beach these days. thank you for posting this very serene moment. I could sit in front of it and just dream and just transport myself there. I didn't change the colors or saturation of your image because I really like the silver effect/ blue grey effect. It was that special color that attracted my eyes at first. I decided to crop out the sky because I found the sun blown out. Maybe next time , You could try to use a graduated filter to capture the sky and the sunbeams. Hope you ll like my vision. Definitely , I would try to print and hang this picture maybe on metallic paper for a nice rendition.   Posted: 07/15/2024 17:42:52

Regine, thank you for your kind words. I agree with you, the beach is a magical place early in the morning, so beautiful and serene. I felt that the sunlight, it's rays and the reflective light on the sand created an interesting contrast of light/shadows and colors. I appreciate your thoughts about framing this!   Posted: 07/29/2024 16:29:12

Sylvia I think this is a great example of minimalism in photography where less is more. It creates a wonderful sense of calm and peace and certainly makes me want to be there. I love your editing just the way it is.
