Here is my picture for September : Stormy NYC Skyline
Settings: Camera Canon EOS Mark II lens 24-105mm @ 45mm ISO 100 F/8 1/400s no tripod. Light processing with LrC using masks.
What is special about this photograph ?
This picture was taken in 2015 and not processed yet.
I tried to use the masks available in Lightroom to enhance this photograph. I liked the dramatic sky and thought the original was too dull or flat. But I am not sure whether
my editing is right or not. When I zoom in, I can notice a little white halo around the top of the buildings â¬. Is there a way to avoid this halo when using the mask "select the skyâ¬?
What would you do to improve this picture ? I am curious. Thank you all in advance for your interest.

I think that you have done a nice bit of post processing to bring liven up the image. I pushed it a bit more by adding a vignette, using the blur tool to take away the white fringing and I used Topaz Clarify and a curves adjustmentto give it more contrast and bring out some more detail. I think this is an iconic skyline of NYC. I like your take on framing/composition. I think it works well. I took the crop tool and made the composition more like a panorama. I darkened the clouds some and added contrast and vibrance to the buildings. I balanced the water, skyline and sky. A slight curves adjustment completed my work flow. Regine, this is an amazing shot. I love everything you did to the original and I wouldn't change a thing. The colors are beautiful. You took a deary city and you made it POP. Well done and well edited.

Regine, I think you did an outstanding job bringing out the contrast in the stormy sky. The only little thing I would suggest is to add a little additional contrast and highlight to the buildings and crop it a bit. (I used the Photoshop dodge tool on the buildings to see how it looks.)
