About the Image(s)
This is one of my hummers in the honeysuckle vine. It was shot using my Canon R6 Mk III with the Canon RF 200-800mm F/6.3-9.0 IS USM @ 432mm, 1/3200 sec., f/7.1, and 10,000 ISO. The ISO was required for the shutter speed I wanted. It was shot early morning. I was in manual mode with the camera on a tripod and me sitting behind just waiting. I post processed in Lightroom and Topaz Photo and Topaz Gigapixel. Obviously, it was heavily cropped. Without equivocation, I could not have gotten this shot if not for the R6 Pre-Continuous capability. The hummer has just left the branch to the left and at 76, my reflexes would have been way too late. Not sure I could have done this at 30. The ability of the auto-focus to stay with the hummer is another plus. (Although my computed DOF was around 7.5 inches, I never know which way they will launch. The finished product is “In the Vines”.

With solo bird I always like to try the square finish, hope you'll like it. I warm up just a little the colors as well. Thank you for sharing   Posted: 08/24/2026 12:32:03
