About the Image(s)

This is an Amaryllis. The image is titled "Amaryllis Reflection". I
tried something I've never tried before, creating a reflected image, I
started with my wife's Amaryllis. The reflection was created in a bathroom
mirror with all lights but a night light off. The black background was
partially created using her black laptop. The challenge was to get the black
background behind the reflected image. I removed some of my hand and the
reflection border using Photoshop Generative AI. The original was shot using
a Canon 6D Mk II on a tripod, paired with a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC @
98mm. Settings were Manual Mode, 10 sec. delay on a tripod, 6 sec. exposure,
f/29, and ISO 400. Initial processing was in Lightroom Classic "basic"
develop, and then Topaz AI for denoise and sharpening. Final processing was
completed in Lightroom Classic using background masking and brush masking to
boost contrast in shadows and brighter areas. This image was taken with the
lens about 45 degrees to the reflection which made using the small laptop
background a challenge. It was easier with a shallower angle but then I
encountered the issue of a "ghosting" reflection created by the thick mirror
glass. Most wouldn't notice but it rendered the image useless as a
competition entry. I had better originals made using different settings but
I was really happy with the "final" result of this one so thought I'd share

Kurtis, you are lucky if you have a wife that allows you to process images in your bathroom, my wife is still upset with me, since 30 years ago when I purchased my first digital NIKON. Honestly, you did an excellent job with your Amaryllis. I do not have the patience to do what you did. I like to photograph flowers, I have little time to spend setting the tripod and the rest. Good job Kurt.   Posted: 02/08/2025 19:14:34

I think you have done a masterful job with this image. FOr me, your hard work paid off with a beautiful flower photograph. I just intensified the reds.   Posted: 02/09/2025 03:42:35

What patience you have Kurtis. But it certainly was worth your efforts. I would not have known where to start. I am wondering what you have in mind for your next shot?
Great job.

Kurtis I took a few moments to play with your photo. Certainly not what you created but I still wanted to just show you.   Posted: 02/23/2025 02:22:53
