About the Image(s)
The Lincoln Monument
Located in Tulsa Oklahoma at their Cowboy and Western Gallery and Museum, this copy of the Lincoln Memorial was lit in less than ideal conditions. I took the photo anyway thinking I could make something out of it. Here is that two-step conversion. First is a modification of the original and keeping it in Color. The second step is a conversion via Nik Suite to Monochrome.

I have always liked that we shoot images of statues because of the interesting subjects and that the challenges of lighting and angle are the same as when shooting live subjects.
Very appropriate of you to show us Lincoln this month.
I think your original image had a bit of softness in the lighting that I liked, but that hardened a bit in your finished version. Here is my try at that. What do you think?   Posted: 07/05/2026 04:03:27

I like it. But it seems to lose some detail in the clothing, so I made it a bit darker.   Posted: 07/05/2026 14:07:27
I like Stephen's version. Your final version looks a little cartoonish to me.   Posted: 07/12/2026 15:43:27
I think you did very well with the poor lighting conditions. I like the mono from Wes probably more than Stephen's but both are fine, especially if you haven't seen the other one.   Posted: 07/13/2026 11:58:39
Thanks. There were so many options as I did the processing, and several were as good as the better ones, but I chose this one. It was a "white color challenge."   Posted: 07/14/2026 01:46:47
