About the Image(s)

I was hunting for some pictures to fit an AV sequence and accidentally found this one taken at a PSA conference in 2017. I rather liked the pose and the straight look and I’ve never used this one before. I converted to mono and then took out the ‘devil’ horns which seemed to grow out of her hair- the backdrop was clearly a bit intrusive. I decided the ordinary lighting wasn’t really going to make the most of her looks so I tried Silverefex and chose none of the portrait settings but a street one, which emphasised the contrast. I’m not sure whether it works because it has made her skin very harsh. I tried improving this by going to Filter and reduce noise, which is better but still too much detail. Any suggestions welcome. I suppose I could have simply increased the overall contrast and not used Nik. I like the harder lighting but it has also put a heavy shadow on her chest. I cropped slightly both the top and the bottom. Does this work?

Your monochrome conversion emphasizes her "straight look" even more than in the original. This makes the image. That "look" is ambiguous, complex, and a little disquieting. Everything a photographer wants to capture. Well done.   Posted: 12/10/2025 08:21:30

Interesting casual looking pose. I like the down turned head and the eyes looking right at you. Going to mono totally changed the mode of the image, which I like. I think that you went too dark and too much contrast. I played with it and this is what I came up with.   Posted: 12/14/2025 17:42:42

I went darker so the background would disappear.   Posted: 12/17/2025 15:11:18

I like the lighting, particularly on her face; and an almost butterfly under the nose. You also put some sparkle in her hair that isn't in the color version. Nice. Her own right eye is a little "bloodshot" which you could easilly fix.

People do have skin textures such as hers and hers is not a deal killer.   Posted: 12/16/2025 03:38:04

I'll have a go at her eye. Thanks.   Posted: 12/17/2025 13:10:13
