“Taos Mission Church from Rear”
Ansel Adams made this image famous and when I saw it, I couldn’t help be take the photo.
I’ve extensively photographed the front of this Mission. This is the first time I’ve exhibited the Rear View.
It was taken years ago with film when I was into taking photos (copying) of images the Masters took …… as a learning process. I suspect everyone has seen this in a An. Adams book. What do you think of it as a copy?

Nice image and a great subject. I don't have anything to add except that I want to go there some day.   Posted: 12/06/2025 20:48:41
Thanks.
Fly to Albequerque, drive to Santa Fe. Take the "High Road" to Taos. The Mission Church is South of Taos in Ranchos de Taos. You can spend multiple days in Santa Fe (Museums, Galleries, Good Food); the High Road (watch the old movie "The Beanfield War" first.....multiple small craft shops and galleries: and Taos (lots of Indian sights and some nice galleries.   Posted: 12/07/2025 12:34:04

Such a well-studied building.
You did a great job with this view. How I enjoy visiting it through your image.
Ordinarily, I would not like such a wide white border, but I think it works well for this image.   Posted: 12/10/2025 08:16:00

You did a good job with this iconic building. You did a very good job of scanning from film.   Posted: 12/14/2025 18:10:32
I guess one could call the scanning to be a part of the capture.
At the time I had a (something I don't remember) 3000 which did slides one at a time. Time consuming be a good solution.

We've been to Taos but don't remember seeing this mission church. You did a really good job of creating the starkness of the building -no embellishments at all. The base is so solid and bulbous and then the top corner shows a much lighter part with the tower and cross. Good quality of tones as well. I don't know the Ansel Adam's photo so I came to this one with no preconceived ideas.   Posted: 12/17/2025 15:24:27
