About the Image(s)
I shot this lioness in The Lower Zambezi about 10 days ago, the image was ok, but looks like just another lioness sitting shot, so I tried converting to mono, softening and lightening the background to try and get an image which would hopefully make a good mono print, not sure If I have achieved what I wanted. Cropping is minimal. ISO 1250, 560mm, f4.0, 1/1250 sec.
Subject sharpened slightly in Topaz Photo AI, then further processed in Nik Silver Efex.

I like the white background, reminds me of the work of Richard Avedon. But I think the lioness could be a bit darker.   Posted: 07/11/2025 11:14:43
The lioness has a nice pose with the eyes open and she is doing something. I like the effect that you have created and the mono is much better than the color.   Posted: 07/12/2025 20:26:43
The background is very effective in this image. The B/W image is much better and more captivating than the color. Very nice! It does look like the image you submitted as the "original" has had a substantial amount of post processing however.   Posted: 07/13/2025 15:58:01
Yes, it was meant to be the colour version, not the "original", but the system puts the colour version we send to Diana as the Original

Very nice. Yes, the typical lion/lioness photo is predictable and you have created a version that is unique. Just a little bit of darkening as per Stephen might be helpful. (Of course, your home version may already be darker what with the things that internet transmission and different monitors amongst us will do to an image.)   Posted: 07/16/2025 13:45:31
I agree that the monochrome image is the better one here. I initially wasn't certain I liked the bright background, but I do think it is helpful to eliminate distractions and draw my attention to your beautiful lioness subject.   Posted: 07/28/2025 05:37:41
