Lions Head
This was taken Last month in Southern Louisiana at one of the river plantations. This is what looks like an old bronze statue that had a nice patina on it. It was taken with my Olympus camera and 14-150mm lens at 29mm, 1/50th second, f6.3 and ISO 400. I liked the color of the statue, but think that the color over powers the texture of the statue. So I converted to mono in Photoshop, adjusting the sliders so that the green background is darker.

Nice black and white. I would brighten and sharpen the eyes just as you probably would do for a real live animal. I would probably remove the black spot on top of the head. The background is great.   Posted: 05/05/2025 18:51:17
I agree with Ed's suggestions.
I suggest cropping a sliver off of the right side so it is just as tight to the mane as on the left side. But maybe that might not work out. You could try it and see if it pleases you.   Posted: 05/07/2025 05:11:55

I liked the greeny patina as well so I went to your original and desaturated the background and darkened it. I think this should stay as a colourpopped image.
I also tried altering the mono, so that there was more texture to the lion -I increased the contrast and the saturation of yellow and green. Then I darkened the background a little.
I cropped the right so there was the same amount of space both sides and a small amount off the top.
So two alternatives for you.   Posted: 05/07/2025 19:36:08

I think Diana's first rendition is my favorite.   Posted: 05/10/2025 00:54:53
