About the Image(s)

Backstage at the Ballet Folklorico

Given an unprecedented opportunity to film the dancers getting their make-ups on and preparing for the Texas Ballet Folklorico (To celebrate the Day of the Dead), I took this photo of one of the mature lady dancers getting ready.) She is also a City Councilwoman.
Conversion to mono was with the Kelby Levels, then Contrast and brightness. De-noise; and Nik Color Efex for fine tuning via Dynamic skin softener and Glamour Glow and Detail Extractor. And a thin black vignette to darken the back wall.

Great subject, and nicely done that you included a little of the made-up face of the second woman.
Could be my screen, or my eyes, but the red flowers in the woman's hair seem to still have a slight red tint. I am not objecting. It looks good. As I seeing right?   Posted: 04/08/2025 03:41:02

This does work in mono -probably better than in colour as the red flowers are so bright and attract they eye. Looking at the first mono you've done a good job of skin softening on her neck and face, though maybe the processing is what had made them a bit grungy to start with as it isn't apparent in the colour version. I agree with Steve, that there does appear to be a tinge to the red flowers, which I don't quite understand.
This is a good photojournalism style of portrait. I like pictures where people are doing something.   Posted: 04/13/2025 19:10:27

Sorry for the late response. I've been traveling and I came home sick. I may have had covid again as it was that bad. However I'm now on the mend.

Great subject and it works well in BW. Only think is, is that it isn't completely BW as you can see from the histogram.   Posted: 04/17/2025 20:21:41
