About the Image(s)
Mission Arches
This was taken a few years ago at the old Spanish mission Concepcion in San Antonio, TX. I liked the repeating arches and the textures of the stone work. It was taken at 28mm, 1/200th Second, f7.1 and ISO 200. There is not a lot of color in the image, so I thought that I would try monochrome. I did crop in some and used NIK Silver Efex to convert to mono.

Yep, I've been there and this is an excellent composition. There's not a lot of contrast in the lower half, but even so, every thing seems to work. Interesting that you still have the settings for the camera after all the years. A good sign (that I wish I had.)   Posted: 02/05/2025 21:32:42
It was a digital Nikon camera.   Posted: 02/05/2025 21:41:00
Whoops. I thought it was taken YEARS AGO. That's how my brain works.   Posted: 02/05/2025 22:32:26
A classic composition. I also love to shoot a row of arches like this.
I wondered if I could try the conversion to monochrome and get more separation of the arch beams from the stone work, but I don't think I managed anything.
However, I rotated the image a bit left to level out the one horizontal line at the far end of the archway.   Posted: 02/10/2025 20:58:51

I would have been taking this shot too. I like the perspective created by the arches and you've brought out the detail of the stonework. However, I found it a bit empty and wanted something at the far end, so how good are you at montage. Could you introduce a monk or a cat somehow?   Posted: 02/11/2025 15:07:41
Super easy to add a person (monk). and it would make it more interesting. I would like it both ways, however.   Posted: 02/17/2025 18:23:49
I always prefer these types of shots empty of animals or people if possible. Just my preference.   Posted: 02/18/2025 04:07:32
