About the Image(s)
This image was taken at a deserted mining village in Greenland.
There was a thick layer of morning fog when the sun came through the clouds.
I took the image with my Sony AR 2 and worked on it in LR, PS and NIK silver Effects. Susan

Susan, an interesting subject.
For me, the image does not suggest fog but just looks unsharp.
It will be very interesting to see what the other members think about this one.   Posted: 09/06/2023 03:09:27

John,
Thank you for the feedback. It was an unusual fog with the sunlight coming through. I agree it is does not look sharp. Susan   Posted: 09/06/2023 17:56:08

Susan: From my limited experience in photography capturing fog is a tricky business. What our expensive cameras "see" and what our wonderful eyes with the best lenses ever see are often not the same. Trying to capture that foggy moment in an image often results in a departure from our memory. Without reading your description, I would not have known it was fog as the image appears to be totally soft. Pushing the envelope pays and believe with your creative vision you will continue to take great images in the future.   Posted: 09/07/2023 06:40:18
Hi Susan, I do commend you for the compositionbut I think it has been over processed. I would recommend an experiment of taking the original RAW file straight into Silver Effex and apply a filter. I find that if I work it in both the results can become too crunchy.   Posted: 09/08/2023 19:12:52
Nick,
Thanks for the suggestion. I will try it and also as elle stated fog is difficult to capture. Thaks, Susan   Posted: 09/17/2023 17:36:18

Susan - regrettably my initial reaction was that there is nothing sharp in the image and certainly no apparent diffusion from fog. Compositionally OK although it could be argued that the house is a little central. So sorry that it did not work out for you.   Posted: 09/09/2023 04:37:23

Hello Susan. I like the charcoal drawing quality of the image as an effect; however, I would prefer a sharper image with the same effect. The softness does not convey fog to me although the low clouds do. Interesting experiment.   Posted: 09/17/2023 13:58:31
Ed,
Yes interesting experiment. I will try to bring it right into Silver Effects as Nick suggested and then sharpen it. Dealing with the intense fog in some locations and bright sun in others made this a difficult image. Susan   Posted: 09/17/2023 17:39:56
