I'm currently working on my very first photo book for myself. It will be titled "Sydney, Then and Now". The then section is images taken around our older historic sections of the city, captured in colour, processed into B&W, then "aged" by adding dust spots, scratches and water marks to certain areas, as I want these images to appear to have been taken a hundred years ago. Yes, I acknowledge, my photography can be a little strange at times. The new section shows other parts of Sydney as it is today, with all its hustle and bustle. This image could end up in the new section, as this office tower was only completed in the last handful of years. The sky was cloudless clear blue at the time of capture, but the image has been changed to B&W for this group. Details are: Nikon D2x; 34mm lens length; ISO 100; F3.3; 1/1,000 and hand held. Processed in LR, PS and Topaz. Converted to B&W in NIC.

As the other members of the group will know this so floats my boat,shapes and patterns in pictures especially buildings,this for me so has to be mono,the contrast between the sky and the building so works,detail in all the light areas,superbly composed,shapes a plenty its a winner all day for me.

I love it all, but especially the pure white highlights.

Good afternoon! It's great that you're working on your photography book. I think this picture will rightfully take its rightful place there. I like the way all shades of gray look in the frame. And I like the building. I would have turned the picture around a bit so that the top of the building looked in the center, but this is my perfectionism)   Posted: 08/12/2026 08:20:59
