About the Image(s)
This is not a drone shot. It was captured from the public viewing platform at the top of the southern pilon of our harbour bridge. Quite some views from here. A number of images were taken mid afternoon, with different areas of view, focal lengths and numbers of ferries passing by. Details are: Nikon D810; 50mm lens; ISO 64; F6.3; 1/100 and hand held. It began and remains a colour image, processed in PS and LR, then converted to B&W in NIC.

Hi Ian: Welcome to our little group. I love your image and by including the ferries give context to the Opera House's location. A dream of mine is to visit Australia one day and see this beautiful landscape. I suspect this image is dazzling in color as well. Well done.   Posted: 07/04/2026 14:25:47
Thank you for your welcome and comments Ella. From this location, when the weather is right, it's really hard to get a bad image.   Posted: 07/07/2026 10:40:34
Hi Ian
A very warm welcome to the group,as well as a fantastic vantage point I would imagine a good head for heights is required, you have captured a wonderful vista from your position the darkness of the water is a fantastic contrast to the ferries their wake trails and the stunning opera house and really makes them stand out, everything is so sharp from front to back and leaving the city as a backdrop adds so much information to the image.
I so look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks for your welcome and thoughts Ian. The climb up to this platform is all inside the pilon with no view outside until you get to the top. The sad part is, it's 165 steps up and another 165 back down. Even sadder, is the fact that I counted them.   Posted: 07/07/2026 10:44:19
