About the Image(s)
Over about the the last 12 years I have got to know and become a good friend of a top Liverpool photographer Terry Donnelly Terry is European Ambassador for Sony,Ambassador for Fotospeed and master of light for Rotorlight,he covers all Liverpool Football clubs home games for various press agencies and is an official photographer for the Rugby League,he is very humble and always willing to share his knowledge with others quite happily and freely.
In 2018 Terry invited me to join him at a photo shoot he was doing at the old Newsham hospital in Liverpool, the hospital was closed in 1998 but is used a lot for film and T.V. work especially horror movies,he told me not to bring my camera as he would supply me with a Sony for the day, what he did not tell me was it was not one of his usual one man set up shoots he was working with Sony,Fotospeed and Rotorlight on the day with a top model from London,I had a team from Sony asking what body and lens I wanted for each shoot and just handed the camera, a Sony technician with me at all times if I required a lens changed the images were going straight to Fotospeed who printed them out as we shot and Rotorlight technicians were moving the lights between shoots and setting the lights under Terrys instructions I felt truly privileged to have been let in on this.
Terry asked me to take a photo of him and the model so that is included.
How I did it
Camera Sony ILCE-7RM3, lens Sony FE 85mm F1.4 GM, f1.6,100s,ISO 400 focal length 85mm very little editing required a touch of localised burning and sharpened using a high pass filter.
Very little done to this, cropped slightly from the left, converted to mono, sharpened using a high pass filter, and a 2 stroke border added.

What a wonderful experience.
I really like the back light on the "nurse's" hair. It draws you eye and then you land on the eyes. As Ella stated they are the focal point of the image. Love the shine on the uniform. Great image. Susan   Posted: 04/12/2026 17:55:19
