About the Image(s)
I was at the Outer Banks in North Carolina in June of 2022 shooting the Milky Way over the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. It was a great night, skies were clear and the Milky Way was very easy to see. My shooting buddy and I were able to get to three different locations, all in the same night. Most of my prints are in color but I thought this looked great in B&W.
Shot with a Canon EOS R5 and RF 15-35 @23mm F2.8 L IS USM, .03 sec, f2.8 for the lighthouse beacon, 15 images at 15 sec f2.8 for the sky. Sky images stacked in Sequator and blended with the lighthouse in Photoshop.

Hi Michael: Another stunner of an image. When I saw the lighthouse, it almost took my breath away. Just an outstanding composition & love the way you handled the light of the lighthouse. To my eye, the milky way in the sky is the bonus. Your post camera processing is just simply superb.   Posted: 07/08/2025 16:15:41

Michael,
I love the use of light in the image. Takes me right up the light house to the top and then into the stars.
I tried some night photography with Milky Way on my recent trip to France. Did not bring the correct camera and was disappointed with my capture. Will see if I can find one that is post worthy. Susan   Posted: 07/13/2025 22:29:40

Michael - a very atmospheric image in which the multiple images have been merged to perfection. The moonlight (?) catching the lighthouse is sublime and the retention of detail in the light and the light flare are amazing. The milky Way is a real bonus and adds interest.
Overall extremely well captured and processed, the portrait format is just right for this image.   Posted: 07/16/2025 09:57:25

Hey Peter, thanks for the comments! I got lucky with the sidelight. There are a few outbuildings that have exterior lighting on them so the lighthouse picked that up. I use the square format on a lot of my photography and like the balance it gives the photos.   Posted: 07/16/2025 13:07:56
