Pink Shoe Still Life by Ella Schreiber, QPSA, APSA

July 2025 - Pink Shoe Still Life

About the Image(s)

July is a month for daises and had to dig into my old files for this month’s image. A ff camera was used with a macro lens 1/125, F 10, ISO 200 and a speed lite. In post camera processing it was converted to B/W using an adjustment layer, selectively dodged, sharpened, added a slight vignette & a 3 px grey stroke and called it done.

Hello Ella,

This still life certainly has a beautiful glamour and femininity feel to it. I like the composition and how the flowers and pearls offset the rigid form of the shoe - balancing the hard and soft textures.

This certainly isn't my genre but I'm wondering if a little more contrast or subtle side lighting would help separate the objects from the backdrop?   Posted: 07/11/2025 16:31:40

Not sure that I have the imagination to create such a still life. You are amazing. Where they the shoes you wore in your teens?
Overall it is is stunning. I like the balance of the round pearls to the pointed shoes and flowers. I am sure it is just as beautiful in color. Susan   Posted: 07/13/2025 22:33:35

Ella - yet another sublime still life - so well conceived, lit and processed and I like the diagonal flow up the shoe and the stopper at the top.
Your still life skills are above and beyond those of most photographers, even the pro's.   Posted: 07/16/2025 10:14:55

Michael, Susan, Peter & John: Thank you for your feedback very much appreciated. I might "play" with the contrast just a hair to see if there is any measurable difference. Thanks again for all of your comments.   Posted: 07/18/2025 15:13:38

Hi Ella
You would have to be a qualified stilt walker to walk in those shoes but the shape of the shoe is superb, the daisy on the shoe and the one on the table top give the image amazing balance, the pearls sparkle to match the glitter on the shoes a beautifully designed and cleverly put together still life from the Grand Master.   Posted: 07/18/2025 18:43:36
